Mission Statement

The Rwanda Cinema Center was created to facilitate through film and video production, delivery of informative entertaining
and educative content; to explore a wide spectrum of issues and raise awareness on local and global development agendas;
community outreaches, socio-cultural, political and economic development. The film is not only one of the most popular
forms of entertainment, it also represents an
industry that is growing, thus creating trades, foreign investments and job opportunities.  Rwanda is now a country on the
move and our cultural diversity and creative energy is finding the space to flourish.

History of Rwanda Cinema Center

Under the umbrella of Rwanda Cinema Center, several films have been made in Rwanda, by Rwandans.  "100DAYS" is the
first feature film about the Rwandan Genocide and "Keepers of Memory" is a tribute to the survivors at the 10th Year
Anniversary of the Genocide this last year. Both films premiered at the prestigious Toronto Film Festival and went on to
screen at major world film festivals, thus exposing our history and past but also showing our resilience and will to move
forward. In this last year, RCC has sent young RCC apprentices for trainings in Michigan, New York and Boston, USA. Their
work have been featured in South Africa and at Festival TeleJeunes, Montreal, Canada

This year, from the 16th-> 31 March, Rwanda Cinema Center held the First ever Rwanda Mini-Film Festival. It was a
gathering point for filmmakers, students, film professionals, development communications practitioners and the general
public.  The theme for this year’s festival was ‘Regional Cooperation for Audiovisual Excellence in Central and East Africa’.
RCC contributed to the 2004 report of the International Film Guide and we recently finished courses on the use of video and
film equipment to many young aspiring filmmakers at  “Maison des Jeunes de Kimisagara “and “Centre Christus.

We have several local and international partners such as: Ministries of Youth Sport and Culture, Local Government, Rwanda
Investment and Export Agency, Kigali , Vivid Features in Nairobi, Vues d'Afrique in Montréal, The Lincoln Society Center-New
York, USA; Eicar: Ecole Internatonale de Creation Audiovisuel et de Realisation, France.  RCC sits on the Board Members of
Zanzibar International and we are member of “East African filmmakers Association”.
